Southwest Airlines said passenger traffic rose 2.8 percent in December as the airline increased its capacity by 2.9 percent in the busy holiday travel month.
The Dallas-based carrier said its load factor declined 0.1 percentage point to 82.7 percent when compared to December 2013.
Its unit revenues also decreased in the four to five percent range for the month, Southwest said.
For the full year, Southwest said its passenger traffic rose 3.5 percent although capacity increased slightly, up 0.5 percent. Planes were fuller as its load factor grew 2.4 percentage points to 82.5 percent in 2014.
