American Airlines said its passenger traffic rose 1.5 percent in December as the carrier maintained its network capacity during the busy holiday travel month.
The Fort Worth-based carrier said its load factor grew 1.2 percentage points to 81.6 percent.
American reiterated its fourth quarter guidance to Wall Street investors, saying it expects unit revenues to be down five to seven percent.
In a government filing made Tuesday, the carrier said it expects to pay an average of $1.48 and $1.53 per gallon of mainline jet fuel in the quarter. American ended the year with about $6.9 billion in total cash and short term investments.
