A local mechanics union sued American Airlines in January, alleging the company was pressuring mechanics to cut corners when working on aircraft.

The lawsuit, filed in Illinois, alleged the carrier had “compromised public safety.” American refuted the claims and a federal judge dismissed the case in June.
