Changes were coming to American Airlines’ AAdvantage frequent flier program, president Scott Kirby told Wall Street analysts in October.
But he wouldn’t reveal the details that the airline was changing AAdvantage to a revenue-based program. That announcement came several weeks later when American outlined how miles would be accrued based on the amount and type of airfares a customer purchased in 2016.
