-The U.S. Department of Transportation gave American Airlines until March 27 to start its new Los Angeles-Tokyo Haneda service, according to this Bloomberg News report. Delta Air Lines had asked the DOT to revoke American’s right to fly the Haneda route because it had not started the service in a timely fashion. American said it plans to start daily service on February 11.

-It’s a little early to be thinking about the Super Bowl, but this article in Air & Space magazine shows the big game from the perspective of an air traffic controller.

-And in case you missed it last week, I had the opportunity to spend some time at Airbus Helicopters’ paint shop in Grand Prairie. The paint shop custom designs and paints about 60 aircraft each year.
