American Airlines says October passenger traffic up a record 5.8 percent

American Airlines said its passenger traffic in October rose a record 5.8 percent as the carrier added 2.1 percent in capacity to its network.

The Fort Worth-based airline also reported that its planes carried more passengers as its load factor to 85.2 percent, up 3.0 percentage points.

American told investors that it expects unit revenues to be down five to seven percent in the fourth quarter.
