Southwest Airlines says October passenger traffic rose 10.8 percent

Southwest Airlines said its October passenger traffic jumped 10.8 percent as the company added international flights to its new Houston Hobby terminal.

The Dallas-based carrier increased its capacity to 7.2 percent. Planes were full in October as Southwest reported a record load factor of 85.9 percent, up 2.8 percentage points.

Southwest told investors its unit revenues will increase about 1 percent in the fourth quarter compared to the same quarter last year.
