Lockheed Martin and Textron, which owns Bell Helicopter, are the finalists to purchase the maker of Sikorsky helicopters, according to this report by Reuters.

The article says that Boeing Co. is no longer interested in purchasing United Technologies Corp.’s Sikorsky subsidiary although UTC could still spin out the unit to shareholders in an public offering.

The sale of Sikorsky could be valued around $8 billion. If Textron is the winning bidder, it would help the company expand its existing Bell Helicopter business which is based in Fort Worth.

Earlier this year, Bell announced it was cutting 1,100 workers as sales of commercial helicopters remained soft.
