American Airlines and Qantas Airways are planning a joint announcement later this afternoon in Miami.

The two carriers, who are both part of the Oneworld alliance, could be expanding their business relationship. A media advisory sent out Tuesday morning said that American chief executive Doug Parker and Qantas chief executive Alan Joyce will make the announcement at 2 p.m. CDT.

Both CEOs are in Miami for the International Air Transport Association general meeting.

Currently, Qantas flies and A380 from Sydney to Dallas/Fort Worth airport six times a week, often bringing in connecting passengers to American’s hub at DFW.
