-Eastern Airlines is back, reports the Miami Herald. The new charter carrier, which is using the name and logo of the old Eastern Airlines that went out of business in 1991, started charter flights last week between Miami and Havana, Cuba. The airline’s Boeing 737-800 will fly twice a day on that route and weekly to other destinations, the article said.

-Almost half of the social media posts about U.S. airlines are negative, a new report says. An analysis of tweets from 2014 through this spring showed that 47 percent were negative, while only 20 percent were positive about the airlines. United Airlines and American Airlines had the highest rate of negative posts, the Chicago Tribune article said.

-Malaysia Airlines plans to cut 6,000 jobs and some international routes as the airline restructures as a private company, Reuters reports. “We are technically bankrupt...the decline of performance started long before the tragic events of 2014,” said Christoph Mueller, the airline’s new CEO who was hired last month.
