American Airlines plans to move US Airways’ flight attendant training classes to Fort Worth by early next year.

The Fort Worth-based carrier announced on Wednesday that it will shift the classes to its Flagship University. Even after American and US Airways merged, US Airways flight attendants and flight service crewmembers continued to take recurrent training classes at facilities in Phoenix and Charlotte.

“This is going to allow us to have a more consistent delivery of our training programs,” said American spokeswoman Andrea Huguely.

The move affects 19 employees at its Phoenix and Charlotte locations. Those workers will be offered their same positions in Fort Worth or can take another position within the company, Huguely said.

“Some may choose to return flying,” she added.

The training move is the latest step in the integration of American and US Airways as the two airlines received their single operating certificate from the Federal Aviation Administration earlier this year.
