Southwest Airlines chief executive Gary Kelly received over $5 million in executive compensation last year as the Dallas-based airline posted its most profitable year ever.
According to a Securities and Exchange Commission filing made on Monday, Kelly’s base salary of $675,000 remained the same as 2013. However, he received $2.99 million in stock awards for meeting financial goals set by the company’s board of directors, up 33 percent from the prior year.
Kelly also received a cash bonus of $224,775 and earned a non-stock bonus of $904,770.
The airline plans to hold its annual shareholder meeting on Wednesday, May 13 at the Hyatt Regency Houston at 10 a.m. It will be the first time in years that Southwest has not held the meeting at its headquarters at Dallas Love Field.
