In Sunday’s Star-Telegram, I wrote about American Airlines’ effort to rebank Dallas/Fort Worth Airport.
Although the Fort Worth-based carrier didn’t add or drop flights from its daily schedule of over 800 flights, it tweaked the schedule to allow for shorter connection times and busier “banks.”
In this video simulation, American used computer modeling to see if its banked schedule could be operated without compromising on-time departures and arrivals. It also used the computer modeling to help air traffic controllers balance the use of runways at DFW without pushing them to capacity.
