Germanwings jet crashes in French Alps

News reports out of France say that a Germanwings A320 aircraft, carrying 144 passengers and 6 crew members, crashed in the French Alps on Tuesday morning.

The flight was on its way from Barcelona to Dusseldorf. Germanwings is a subsidiary of Lufthansa.

The A320 is a popular short-haul aircraft, flown by dozens of airlines around the world. Fort Worth-based American Airlines has 64 Airbus A320 in its fleet which are used on domestic routes.
