-American Airlines is talking to the city of Tulsa about improving its maintenance base inn Oklahoma. According to this article in the Tulsa World, the fleet modernization at American requires the maintenance base to undergo some expensive upgrades. “The chances of increased employment at the American Airlines maintenance base is very good if those changes occur, and it does look like they’re going to occur,”Tulsa mayor Dewey Bartlett told the newspaper.
-Frontier Airlines announced it will raise its baggage fees starting on May 1. Travelers who buy their tickets on Frontier’s website and pay for their bags before they get to the airport will not see an increase, USA Today reports. “The increases, which take effect for travel on or after May 1, range from $5 to $10 per checked bag, according to the baggage fee chart on the airline's website. The biggest increase is for bags checked last-minute at the gate. The price will go from $50 to $60,” the article says.
-American’s pilots have been testing new uniforms for the past few months and the verdict is not favorable. The Allied Pilots Association said pilots have reported that the new uniforms are uncomfortably and do not fit. “The biggest problem is that the lining of the jacket is a blend of 96% polyester and 4% elastane, a combination that does not breathe,” an APA spokesman told the Los Angeles Times.
