American Airlines said passenger traffic dropped 0.7 percent in February as the airline had fewer flights, partly due to winter storms that forced the carrier to cancel hundreds of flights last month.
The Fort Worth-based carrier said capacity declined 1.8 percent in February although its load factor was up 0.9 percentage points to 79.3 percent.
In its traffic update, American told investors it expects first quarter unit revenues to be down two to four percent.
Shares of American [ticker: AAL] were down about three percent, trading around $46.57 in mid-morning trading.
