In June, Lockheed Martin unveiled its first F-35 headed for Israel.
The stealth fighter is known as the Adir, Hebrew for mighty, powerful and great. At the rolling out ceremony, Israeli Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman said the aircraft will become the backbone of Israeli’s security needs.
Last month, Israel approved the purchase of 17 additional F-35s bringing the total number of F-35 jets being sold to the country to 50.
