Southwest Airlines keeps adding more flights to its operations at Dallas Love Field now that the Wright Amendment restrictions are gone.
On Thursday, the Dallas-based carrier announced it was adding 8 new destinations from Love Field starting on August 9. The cities include Boston, Charlotte, Detroit, Omaha, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Raleigh/Durham, and Salt Lake City.
With the added cities, Southwest will operate 180 weekday departures to 50 destinations from Love Field. The airline recently acquired two more gates at Love Field from United Airlines. Southwest now controls 18 of the 20 gates at Love Field with Virgin America operating out of the other two.
“These new travel options and Southwest’s low-fare competition will provide enormous benefits to consumers and businesses in Dallas and all the cities we will serve,” said Southwest chief executive Gary Kelly in a statement.
