American Airlines said its passenger traffic declined 1.7 percent in September as it shrunk its capacity by 0.4 percent.
The Fort Worth-based carrier said planes were not as full as its load factor dropped 1.1. percentage points to 81.6 percent in September.
American also told investors it expects third quarter unit revenues to be down about two to three percent compared to the same period last year.
