Four of the richest families in America are in Texas, according to the latest tally of the richest rich in Forbes magazine.

And a prominent member of the nation’s wealthiest clan resides in Fort Worth.

The Duncan family of Houston (oil and pipelines) rank No. 10 on the list, with net worth of $21.5 billion. The Hunts of Dallas (oil) rank No. 16 with $13.7 billion. The Marshall family of Dallas (oil, investments) is No. 21 at $12 billion. And the Butt family of San Antonio (H-E-B, Central Market supermarkets) is No. 23 at $11 billion.

The richest of the rich remain the Waltons, heirs to Sam Walton’s Wal-Mart fortune, with $130 billion. Alice Walton moved to Fort Worth because of her love of cutting horses. Last year, she put her 1,432-acre Rocking W Ranch, located west of Fort Worth, up for sale after deciding to get out of the cutting horse business.
