Chinese company investing $21 million to make electric vehicle parts in Fort Worth

Junchuang North America Inc., a Chinese plastics and auto parts company, is opening a 55,000 square foot manufacturing plant in south Fort Worth to make parts for electric vehicles.

The plant, at 6101 Campus Drive, will be the company’s North American research and development hub, according to a press release from the city of Fort Worth Economic Development Partnership. The parts will be used in battery systems and drive units.

Junchuang North America makes parts for Ford, Jaguar, General Motors and Land Rover.

It will invest $21 million to get the plant up and running by 2025, creating around 120 jobs once operational, according to the release. The investment is privately funded, and will not involve any city of Fort Worth tax incentives or grants.

“Fort Worth offers a strategic location with a robust business environment and a skilled workforce,” said Junchuang North America’s CEO Vinson Yang in a statement. He added the city’s support of technological advancements align with the company’s vision, while expressing excitement at being able to contribute to the local economy.

Robert Allen, CEO of the economic development partnership, called the plant a significant investment that will bring high quality jobs.

The announcement continues North Texas’ trajectory as a hub for sustainable energy and electric car manufacturing, said city economic development chief Robert Sturns.

Sturns pointed to the magnet manufacturing plant from Nevada-based MP Materials, which has partnered with General Motors to make magnets for electric vehicles. It broke ground in Alliance in May 2022 and is expected to open soon, he said.
