The new Hilton Garden Inn started welcoming guests Friday, paving the way for more conventions and events.
The six-story hotel with 140 rooms is connected to the Hurst Conference Center, which frequently books weddings and other events.
Officials describe the new hotel as a “win-win” for the city of approximately 39,000.
Sanjiv Melwani, who developed the hotel, said the Hilton Garden Inn is an upscale option for guests. The architect who designed the conference center also designed the hotel, he said.
“We definitely think this will augment what the conference center is already doing and will attract a much higher level of business for the city,” Melwani said.
Melwani added that the new hotel will add 45 to 50 jobs in Hurst.
“We look forward to the addition of a new premier national hotel to be added to the fine roster of hotels in the city of Hurst,” said Steve Bowden, the city’s executive director of economic development.
“The Hilton Garden Inn is considered to be one of the best conference hotels in the country,” Bowden said.
