ManyPets Pet Insurance Review
By Jamela Adam MONEY RESEARCH COLLECTIVE
As any pet owner knows, veterinarian care is expensive – but well worth it. What with routine checkups, illnesses, chronic conditions, and accidents, bills can mount quickly. One way to help offset the cost of veterinary care is to purchase pet insurance. With pet health insurance, you will be reimbursed a portion of your vet bills after paying the deductible amount — easing your financial strain when your cat or dog needs medical attention.
If you don’t want to spend a fortune on monthly premiums, ManyPets is an option worth looking into. This pet health insurance company offers comprehensive coverage and keeps its prices low, making it a budget-friendly option for pet parents.
ManyPets pet insurance overview
Launched in 2017, ManyPets is a fast-growing pet health insurance company that has quickly expanded from the UK to Sweden and the United States. Today, the company has helped nearly half a million customers afford the best care for their pets. And with plans starting at just $15 per month, ManyPets is one of the most affordable pet insurance companies on the market.
ManyPets’ services
It’s important to choose a pet health insurance company that offers a variety of plans and coverage options so you can tailor the policy to your fur baby’s needs. Pet insurance costs are also a crucial factor to consider, especially if you’re on a tight budget. Let’s look at ManyPets’ plans, coverage options, and costs to see if the company’s insurance plans may be right for you and your four-legged family members.
What it offers
ManyPets offers a customizable and comprehensive pet insurance plan that covers accidents and illnesses. This plan includes coverage for office visits, prescriptions, hospitalization, surgeries, and more. You can customize your plan to fit your budget by choosing the deductible and co-pay that work best for you. Plus, unlike many competitors that exclude cancer treatment from coverage, ManyPets reimburses you for the full range of cancer diagnostics and treatments, including biopsies, radiation, chemo, and blood tests. That way, you can provide your pet with high-quality healthcare without worrying about incurring crushing debt.
When you sign up for the standard accident and illness insurance, you also have the option to add a wellness plan to your policy at an extra cost. This wellness plan covers routine and preventative care such as vaccinations, dental cleaning, supplements, and heartworm prevention.
ManyPets pet insurance cost
ManyPets has a handy online quote tool that gives you a rough estimate of how much it’ll cost to insure your pet. Keep in mind that monthly premiums can vary depending on the breed and age of your pet. Here’s how much the standard accident and illness plans cost at ManyPets:
| Starting Monthly Cost | Deductible amount choices | Reimbursement
choices |
|
| Dog plan | $35 | $100, $250, $500 | 70%, 80%, 90% |
| Puppy plan | $20 | $100, $250, $500 | 70%, 80%, 90% |
| Cat plan | $25 | $100, $250, $500 | 70%, 80%, 90% |
| Kitten plan | $15 | $100, $250, $500 | 70%, 80%, 90% |
What it doesn’t offer
Most companies don’t provide pet insurance for pre-existing conditions. In other words, if your pet has been diagnosed, treated, or displays symptoms of a specific condition within 18 months of the policy effective date, that condition is excluded from coverage.
However, ManyPets has even more restrictive exclusions than its competitors. For pets with hip dysplasia and cruciate ligament issues, the company will refuse to cover those conditions even if your pet has been treatment-free and symptom-free for more than 18 months. So if you’re considering ManyPets’ insurance plans, check the company’s exclusions before signing up.
Also, ManyPets isn’t available nationwide. If you and your pet family reside in one of the ineligible states — Alaska, Florida, Hawaii, Idaho, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Oklahoma, Vermont, and Missouri — you will need to consider other options.
ManyPets waiting periods
A waiting period is the amount of time you have to wait until you can claim benefits from the insurer. With ManyPets, accident and illness claims within the first 15 days of your policy are not eligible for pet insurance coverage. However, ManyPets may reduce your waiting period to only 24 hours if you switch over from another provider.
ManyPets pet insurance coverage
ManyPets’ basic insurance policies cover expenses related to illnesses and accidents but not routine or preventative care. This chart showcases ManyPets’ standard insurance coverage in detail:

If you need routine or preventative care coverage for your pets, you can add a ManyPets wellness plan to your standard insurance policy at an additional cost. This wellness plan will reimburse you up to $150 per year for each of the following:
- Routine vaccinations and wellness exam fees
- Heartworm, tick, and flea prevention
- Dental cleanings including scaling, polishing, and brushing
- Holistic care including treatments and supplements for stress, anxiety, bones, skin, and joints.
