Officials at the Cotton Bowl Classic have partnered with Goodyear as the new title sponsor for their postseason game at AT&T Stadium in Arlington.
The deal, announced Friday, means the next two postseason contests in Arlington will be called the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic: this season’s game, to be played Jan. 1, and the Dec. 31, 2015 contest that will be a semifinals matchup as part of the College Football Playoff.
No financial terms were released but the deal assures continuing title sponsorship for the Cotton Bowl Classic, a “New Year’s Six” game in the CFP era that has been an annual mainstay on the D-FW sport calendar since its inaugural game between TCU and Marquette on Jan. 1, 1937.
Steve McClellan, president of Goodyear North America, said corporate officials are “passionate about college football and are … thrilled to share in the excitement of the inaugural year of the college football playoff.”
