5 things to watch in Cowboys-Redskins game

1 DeMarco Murray

He’s a front-runner to win the MVP after a record-breaking start to the season with seven consecutive 100-yard rushing games. The workload, at this point, doesn’t seem to bother Murray or the Cowboys and there’s no reason to stop giving him the ball.

2 Tony Romo

His training-camp prediction that his best years are ahead of him doesn’t look too far-fetched now. Romo has overcome a sluggish opener and is playing at a high level. He ranks fourth in passer rating (104.7), first in completion percentage (69.2) and tied for fifth in touchdowns (14) entering this week’s games.

3 More pressure?

The Cowboys’ defense has expectations this season and they were not pleased with their third sack-less game against the New York Giants. Expect even more hunger from the defensive line to get to the quarterback and get their sack numbers going upward.

4 Familiar faces

Former University of Texas quarterback Colt McCoy is starting for the Redskins and will play his first NFL game against the Cowboys and in AT&T Stadium. The Cowboys also will see the return of defensive end Jason Hatcher, who departed via free agency after eight seasons in Dallas.

5 Prime time

Monday Night Football still carries special meaning for the players, particularly rookies who will experience it for the first time, such as guard Zack Martin. Fans love it, too, and the Cowboys expect another rocking house similar to the Giants’ game.
