In his first start back from the DL, right-hander Nick Martinez went 5 1/3 scoreless innings in New York. He gave up three hits, a walk and struck out three.
“Coming off a start like that is good,” Martinez said. “I mean, we didn’t get the win, but you know, coming off the DL and having a strong start like that definitely plays a role in this next start.”
He’s scheduled to start Tuesday against the Yankees, a team he faced six days ago.
“I don’t want to overthink it that much, just want to go and attack them, not give them too much credit,” Martinez said. “They did see some other pitchers before me. Just go out and attack.”
