Two Texas receivers charged with felony sexual assault received indefinite suspensions Thursday from Longhorns’ football coach Charlie Strong. The two players, Kendall Sanders and Montrel Meander, received second-degree felony charges for forcing themselves on a female victim. Sanders also faces a charge of improper photography, based on an investigation by campus police.
In a statement, Strong said both players “have been suspended indefinitely from our football team and will no longer participate in any team functions” after breaking one of the program’s core values: treat women with respect. Sanders ranked their among Texas players in receiving yards last season (361 yards, one TD) despite missing the season opener following a DUI charge. Meander, a redshirt freshmen, did not play in any games last season.
