The numbers suggest Colby Lewis had a rough Cactus League debut as the Rangers fell 6-5 to the Indians on Monday. He threw 32 pitches, allowed two runs, walked two and recorded only two outs.
But results aren’t too important at this point. Instead, the Rangers want to make sure Lewis is going through the rehab process correctly and is ready to pitch again in the big leagues after missing all of last year.
“It’s about getting my body to adapt to what I have now,” said Lewis, who had hip resurfacing surgery last season. “It’s a process and hopefully it’s quicker than it is late.”
Nick Tepesch threw the ball well in his spring debut with three scoreless innings.
