Tepesch feels good after live BP; Rangers to sell Russell Wilson merchandise

Nick Tepesch was ready to throw his live batting practice Friday morning, but there were no minor-league batters on hand. There had been some miscommunication and Tepesch had to delay his throwing session by about five minutes.

“It could’ve gone a little better, but it felt good,” Tepesch said. “I felt comfortable and my command was there at times.”

Tepesch has been sidelined the past few days with back stiffness and the Rangers scratched him from his intrasquad appearance earlier in the week. Tepesch is battling for a spot in the Rangers’ rotation after winning the fifth spot out of camp last year.

• The Rangers are making the most of Russell Wilson coming to spring training. The team announced they will sell replica home white and red and royal T-shirts with “Wilson” and “3” on the back beginning on Sunday. They will also sell a “Seahawk Green” T-shirt. The merchandise will be available at the Rangers’ complex in Surprise, as well at their local area stores.

• Fans can purchase individual tickets beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Rangers Ballpark box office, online at the team’s website or by calling 972-726-4377. A very limited number of tickets remain for the home opener on March 31 against the Phillies.

• Rain is in the forecast for Saturday and there’s a chance the Rangers-Athletics game could be called. Ron Washington said he would have his scheduled pitchers throw in the batting cage against hitters instead of pushing them back a day.
