The daily STEW

The daily STEW (Star-Telegram Editorial Writers): The U.S. House passed a bipartisan bill Friday, approving the Keystone XL oil pipeline. Do you think the Senate should pass the law and send it to President Obama’s desk? Should the president sign it into law?

No! Get rid of it! It is an environmental disaster! Penny Bonkowski

I believe funds should be spent on research, development and establishing infrastructure for alternate, sustainable energy rather than exhaustible ones that risk wildlife and our living environment further. Crystal Castellanos

Yes and yes. Canada has already said they’re selling the oil to one or more countries if it’s not sold to the U.S. The two countries most mentioned are China and Russia. I’d rather the oil go to the U.S., recognizing full well that the U.S. needs to get serious about using alternative and renewable forms of energy. Oil has more uses than just for energy, though. Clint Brady

Absolutely. Pipelines are much safer for the environment than shipping crude oil by rail and that is a statistical fact. Bob Mearns
