Nationally and in Texas, political debate has flared anew on the issue of equal pay for women doing the same work as men. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, women make an average of 81 cents for each dollar men are paid in terms weekly wages.
Is there a real job-by-job pay discrepancy that is due to widespread and entrenched — even if subtle — discrimination against women, or can conditions be explained by individual choices and circumstances that are being mixed and manipulated to score points in the political arena?
