The daily STEW (Star-Telegram Editorial Writers): Another Academy Awards show has come and gone, a unique phenomenon in American culture. Regardless of whether your favorite movie or favorite actor or actress took home one of those famous gold statues, what do you think of the annual red carpet extravaganza? Of course it’s over the top, but do movies add enough fun or inspiration to American life these days to make them worth the hoopla?
The movies have improved in recent time in my opinion. I love the Oscars and I like the fact that the actors are really dressing up and presenting a favorable presentation. I thought they really nailed it this year. Genny
As is the case in every industry, giving special recognition to those who do well in the eyes of the industry will help to improve the work of the whole industry. However, I don’t see much value in those of us outside of the industry watching the show. Timothy Fish
