The daily STEW (Star-Telegram Editorial Writers): On a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being “my lazy uncle could have done better” and 10 being “these guys are the best,” how would you rate the performance of state and local transportation officials in combating ice on roads and freeways the past few days? Why?
It doesn’t matter how good are bad they did. I applaud them for being out there, while I sat home in front of the fire with my family. Stephanie White

Considering the lack of resources and proper training to deal with this weather, they deserve a 10. Anything less means you must want to be out there handling it or you want to pay more taxes. Christina Moody

Transportation officials get a 10. But the knucklehead drivers speeding over icy roads and bridges get a big fat zero. David Hallum
From Day 1 they should have cleared the snow/ice and sand before it got worse, not waiting till Sunday AM hours. Carol Lopez
The city of Fort Worth gave a Merry Grinchmas to all its business owners who lost money on a very important holiday shopping weekend and most of its citizens now get to budget Christmas on a smaller paycheck. Suzanne Donovan Rhodes
