Driver crashes into Arlington animal shelter

A driver was in the doghouse early Tuesday morning, police said.

The driver of a Toyota sport utility vehicle drove into a brick exterior wall of the Arlington animal shelter in the 1000 block of Southeast Green Oaks Boulevard about 4 a.m.

The driver, whose name was not released, was taken to John Peter Smith Hospital Fort Worth for treatment of his injuries.

Police say they believe alcohol was a factor in the crash, which was still under investigation.

A damage estimate for the shelter, which opened in 2009, was not available Tuesday evening. — Susan Schrock
