Fort Worth police arrested a suspect in the stabbing of a convenience store clerk Friday night.
Officers responded to the store in the 2600 block of South Riverside Drive after the incident was reported about 9:45 p.m., said Capt. Scott Conn. The store employee said he saw a man trying to steal merchandise, and when he confronted him, it escalated into a physical struggle. The man stabbed the clerk once and ran out, police said.
The clerk was taken to a hospital, where he was in stable condition, Conn said in an email.
Officers searched the area, and the suspect — a 49-year-old man — was located after a resident reported seeing him. The suspect, whose name was not released, was arrested for outstanding traffic warrants and was to be interviewed about the aggravated assault, Conn said.
