A 16-year-old girl learning how to drive hit a 12-year-old boy while backing out of a driveway in Lewisville and pinned him against a home, causing injuries that killed him, Lewisville police said in a news release Saturday.

The accident was reported at 6:37 p.m. on Friday at a mobile home park at 1708 Bunker Hill Lane.

Police said the father of the 16-year-old Lewisville resident was teaching her basic car operations in their driveway and she put the 4-door Nissan Sentra into reverse. The car accelerated rapidly out of the driveway, crossed the road and struck Eric Lozano, 12, also of Lewisville, pinning him against a home. A 10-year-old was also hit but not seriously injured, police Capt. Dan Rochelle said in the news release.

Lewisville paramedics took Lozano to Medical Center of Lewisville where he was pronounced dead.
