Two killed in Fort Worth crash

A crash Saturday afternoon involving eight vehicles on a southbound service road of Interstate 35W left two men dead and a third seriously injured, Fort Worth police said.

Police were dispatched at 1 p.m. to a major accident on the service road at East Felix Street, said Cpl. Tracey Knight, a police spokeswoman.

The three men, all in their early 20s, were in a maroon Toyota Avalon that lost control and hit the back of a Chevrolet pickup, Knight said. Two of the men — the driver and a backseat passenger identified by the Tarrant County medical examiner’s office as Manuel Alvarez, 20, of Fort Worth — were pronounced dead. The third was transported to a hospital with serious injuries.

Witnesses told police that the Toyota was traveling at a high speed. Other injuries were reported, but none are believed to be life-threatening, Knight said. The crash remained under investigation, she said.
