Grand Prairie man sentenced to 60 years for sex abuse of 12-year-old relative

A 49-year-old Grand Prairie man was sentenced to 60 years in prison this week for repeatedly having sex with a 12-year-old relative in the back seat of his car.

Jurors deliberated 10 minutes Wednesday before convicting Timothy Earl Wesley of continuous sexual abuse of a child under 14, a charge that carries no possibility of parole, according to a news release from the Tarrant County district attorney’s office.

Wesley elected to have state District Judge Louis Sturns impose his sentence.

Prosecutors Leticia Martinez and Pamela Boggess presented evidence that in July 2012, the girl’s mother learned that her daughter had a cellphone, which the girl said Wesley had given to her. The girl told her mother that Wesley used the phone to call her to arrange to meet outside the apartment complex where she lived. He would drive them to a wooded area and have sex with the girl in the back of his vehicle, prosecutors told the jury.

The mother found text messages and nude photos on the cellphone, and contacted police.

The news release noted that Wesley will be 109 before he can be released from prison.
