Reward offered for information in Arlington shoe store slaying

A shoe store owner is offering a $10,000 reward to anyone who can help identify the robber who killed a clerk Tuesday in south Arlington.

Police found Randy Pacheco, 23, dead in the back of the Red Wing Shoes store in the 3100 block of South Cooper Street, according to a news release from Arlington police. Pacheco died from a gunshot wound to the head and his death is being investigated as a homicide, according to the Tarrant County medical examiner’s office.

“This tragedy is heartbreaking and senseless,” said Mark Urdahl, executive vice president of Red Wing Shoe Co. “We hope people with information about who did this will contact” Arlington police.

Detectives released a video Wednesday of a man walking around the store holding a gun. He was wearing a gray hooded sweatsuit and a mask, and was followed by a small black-and-white dog.

The video is posted on the Arlington police YouTube page at www.youtube.com/user/arlingtonpolicemedia.

Police are also searching for the driver of a late 1990s or early 2000s light-colored Toyota Tacoma pickup with a lift and oversize tires, which was seen in the area.
