Texans have until Monday to register to vote in March primary

Monday is the last day Texans may register to vote in this year’s primary elections.

In the March 4 election, Texas voters will weigh in — either as Democrats or Republicans — on races ranging from U.S. Senate to justices of the peace.

To register, a voter must be a U.S. citizen at least 17 years and 10 months old (and 18 by Election Day), not a convicted felon (unless the person’s sentence is completed including probation or parole) and cannot be declared mentally incapacitated by a court.

Voter registration applications are available at subcourthouses, city halls, libraries and post offices — and online through Tarrant County and the Texas secretary of state. They must be postmarked or dropped off at the election office by Monday.

Early voting runs Feb. 18-28.

To check whether you are registered to vote, go online at VOTEXAS.org or call the Tarrant County elections office at 817-831-8683. — Anna M. Tinsley
