A Parker County sheriff’s deputy was injured Sunday night when her vehicle was involved in a collision with another vehicle north of Weatherford.

The accident occurred about 8:30 p.m. Sunday as Sheriff’s Patrol Sgt. Kim Cooper, who was on duty, was driving a marked patrol unit and returning to the sheriff’s office.

Cooper suffered a broken leg in the wreck which occurred on Highway 51 North of Weatherford. Cooper was pinned briefly in the patrol car and then flown to a Fort Worth hospital, according to a Parker County sheriff’s office news release. Parker County Sheriff Larry Fowler said Monday morning she suffered a broken leg and is expected to make a full recovery.

“She is a very strong individual,” Fowler said. “The entire department is pulling for her. At this time, we are very hopeful for a full recovery and are praying for her and her family.”
