A 15-year-old boy was taken to a hospital in stable condition late Thursday after he was shot in the jaw at an east side apartment complex, police said.
The shooting was reported about 9 p.m. in the 2200 block of East Berry Street.
The teen had been arguing with an adult acquaintance, Capt. Charles Ramirez, a police spokesman, said. The man shot the teen with a .40-caliber handgun and fled, but later called 911 to say he pulled the trigger and was distraught, contemplating suicide, Ramirez said.
The wounded boy was taken to Cook Children’s Medical Center. His condition could not be checked at the hospital because his name was unavailable.
