Almost 9,000 turn out for Central Market’s “Feast of Sharing”

Thanksgiving came early for 8,800 people who accepted Central Market’s invitation to a “Feast of Sharing” on Tuesday at the Amon G. Carter Jr. Exhibits Hall at Will Rogers Memorial Center.

Seven staff members cooked meals in a 45-foot mobile kitchen accompanied by two 53-foot trailers filled with food and supplies, organizers said. Volunteers served the meals.

A similar event took place at Fair Park in Dallas

Central Market’s parent company, H-E-B, began the holiday meals 26 years ago in Laredo and Corpus Christi. This year, the company will sponsor 30 such events in Texas and Mexico, according to a news release.
