Fort Worth broker to head CASE’s self-storage business

Case Commercial Real Estate Partners is expanding and rebranding its self-storage brokerage service, with longtime Fort Worth commercial real estate broker Richard Minker leading the effort.

The rebranded service will be called Case Self-Storage Advisory.

In the past two years, Case’s self-storage service has sold more than a dozen self-storage facilities, with sales totaling more than $35 million, the firm said.

“We have a long and very productive history of providing consulting services to investors in this unique industry,” said Tom Sutherland, a Case principal. “Case will invest new resources to ensure that our growth in this segment not only continues, but accelerates the platform to provide even more comprehensive services to our clients. It will be big.”

Minker has been a commercial real estate broker for 34 years and at one time operated the Richard Minker Co. in Fort Worth. He has spent the past 15 years specializing in the self-storage market. He will be joined in Fort Worth by Chad Snyder as an associate and by Dani Hall, who will provide research and marketing assistance.

Case Self-Storage is affiliated with the Argus Self-Storage Sales Network, a nationwide network of independent brokers specializing in self-storage brokerage.

The Self-Storage division will also provide property management, financing advisory services, and seller and buyer representation.

Sandlin receives home builder honors

Scott Sandlin of Sandlin Homes has been named the 2014 Builder of the Year by the Greater Fort Worth Builders Association.

The award is based on service and commitment to the association, the building industry and the community. This is the second time Sandlin has received the award. He was named Developer of the Year in 2004.

“I am honored to receive this prestigious award,” Sandlin said. “We believe the strength of any home builder is the ability to deliver quality homes that fulfill our customers’ dreams with unmatched results. This recognition confirms that philosophy and reaffirms our company’s commitment not only to our customer, but to this great industry.”

Sandlin Homes, founded by J.B. Sandlin in 1957 in North Richland Hills, is at the cusp of a $100 million DFW expansion, according to the association. Sandlin has 600 lots under development in 14 communities throughout the Metroplex, ranging in price from the $150,000s to the $400,000s.

Locally, its newest communities include Cambridge in North Richland Hills and Pine Meadows in north Fort Worth.

Jon Samson, executive vice president of the Greater Fort Worth Builders Association, said: “Scott has repeatedly shown his servant leadership to the Builders Association and that commitment and work ethic is easily seen in the homes he builds. We appreciate all of the time and attention he gives to making our organization thrive and that is reflected in naming him Builder of the Year.”

Grapevine equity firm partners on hotel project

Grapevine-based 2GR Equity, a real estate investment firm, has joint ventured with San Antonio-based hotel developer/operator Phoenix Hospitality Group to build a five-story, 138-room Hilton Garden Inn with a conference center.

The venture is a public/private partnership with the city of Live Oak, north of San Antonio. In addition to a grant from the city to help pay for construction, the city is entering into a 20-year lease for the conference center.

Phoenix Hospitality will build and manage the hotel. This is the first hospitality investment made by 2GR Equity since its founding in 2011, the firm said.
