A mid-century modern gem has been given a makeover, thanks to fashion designer Maria Cornejo and Knoll. Legendary architect Eero Saarinen designed the Womb Settee in 1948 for his first big commercial project, a facility for General Motors in Michigan. But it was only in production for three years because of manufacturing limitations — its construction couldn’t stand up to frequent use. Now, Knoll has re-engineered this sleek two-seater and reissued it with a new fabric created for KnollTextiles by Cornejo, the indie intellectual designer whose label Zero + Maria Cornejo is a favorite of first lady Michelle Obama, actress Tilda Swinton and artist Cindy Sherman. Prices vary but begin at $6,194; order the settee through Scott & Cooner, 1617 Hi Line Drive, Dallas, 214-748-9838. www.scottcooner.com.
