It’s Easy Being Green

Primary colors are red-hot right now, but there’s one secondary hue that’s having a moment, too: green. Collections ranging from Gucci to Kenzo, Tracy Reese and Balmain took inspiration from the color of the leaves this season. If you’re not yet ready to go green, try just a pop with a purse like this clutch bag from Medusa .

Back the Blue

It’s hard to separate blue eye shadow from the 1970s — and not the hipster ironic ’70s that comes back in style every year or so. But this season, thanks to some of the most powerful stars in the fashion firmament - think Chanel and DVF - blue eye shadow is back, big time, in saturated shades like this cool Cressida hue from NARS that was used to accent the eye at Marc Jacobs.

The Comfort Factor

Flats and sneakers remain on trend, although the ultra-mega-chunk flat-form seems to have given way to the pointed toe. The coolest hot trend to emerge from the SS16 shows is the white shoe. I am obsessed with these styles from SUNO, a New York City-based line known for its creative prints, which debuted its shoe line during its spring show — one of the most coveted tickets of the week.

Sweet Stripes

Collections showcased stripes of all kinds, from black and white at Christian Dior to rainbow bright at Naeem Khan. Capture the trend here at home with these Instagram-worthy Aquazzura kicks.

Love the Fluff

Fur isn’t just a fall/winter thing anymore, thanks to the many design houses that incorporated the luxe touch of fluff throughout their spring collections. Sure there were coats, like full-on furs from Oscar de la Renta and Saint Laurent and fur-accented jackets at Thom Browne and Jason Wu. But my favorites were the colorful mink bags at Dolce & Gabbana, which is why I’m so obsessed with the Macro Annabelle bag from Kathryn Allen Couture. The bespoke bags can be customized in a variety of materials, like this spunky, sophisticated design that blends stingray and rabbit. It’s not just an on-trend folly — each one is a fabulous fashion statement that’s both a chic season transition piece and a seasonless investment piece.

A New Vibrancy

This is a bold, exciting season. Red is absolutely everywhere, and even elements that often skew romantic — like lace, florals, embroidery and the color pink — are strong and vibrant this season.
