The outdoor ceremony plans for Courtney Hooks and David Carpenter were thwarted when temperatures dropped into the mid-30s on the day of their wedding.
Not only did the nuptials need to be moved inside, but then the space needed to be flipped into a reception venue in just minutes. That’s not an easy task for a guest list numbering 175.
“When you’re flipping a room, that’s a lot of people,” says Lottie Fowler, owner of Grit + Gold, a Fort Worth-based wedding planning company. “We were just so happy everything looked well-executed and not like we had a plan B; like it was actually supposed to be that way.”
Fowler whipped up an indoor altar by draping gold sequined tablecloths, which were toned down by the addition of natural greenery.

The bride — who shined in a blush-colored Vera Wang gown accessorized by a vintage mink shrug — was happy, and that’s what mattered.
The wedding was one of the first to take place at Noah’s Event Venue, a new multi-use facility in north Fort Worth. The space is near The Golf Club at Fossil Creek, which served as a picturesque backdrop for Courtney and David’s wedding portraits.
Inside, a sports-themed lounge with pool tables and flat-screen TVs kept the groomsmen happy.
After a cocktail hour, guests enjoy home-style dishes from the East Texas-based Azalea Food Company presented on an assortment of platters, including one from Courtney’s grandmother.
A classic buttercream wedding cake accompanied by mini tartlets were served for dessert.
Centerpieces were simple but elegant, involving candle-filled iron lanterns surrounded by garlands of greenery. The garden theme translated to the bride’s bouquet, which was green with succulents and leafed sprigs.
Because David is a Major League Baseball pitcher, guests signed a bat as a keepsake for the couple, who departed in a black and white 1957 Chevy Bellaire.
“They were a really close family,” says Fowler. “Everything was very homey, comfortable and laid back.”
