The opening of Heim Barbecue’s brick and mortar location is so close you can almost taste it.

While owner Travis Heim has not yet set a grand opening date for the brick and mortar location of his wildly popular smoked meat emporium, he posted a note on Facebook last week providing a much-anticipated update.

The restaurant was originally tipped to open in late May or early June — a fact acknowledged by a message on the Heim website: “Sorry to keep you waiting so long but we are making sure that everything is just right,” it reads in part. Heim Barbecue was also presumably slightly thrown off by the Rougned Odor kerfuffle earlier this year.)

“We’ve got some good news! We received the OK from the city and are able to get to work training staff and finishing the final small details of the restaurant,” reads the July 17 Facebook post. “So that means we will be opening soon, very soon — like in a few weeks soon!”

The note goes on to elaborate on what the physical location of Heim Barbecue — situated at 1109 W. Magnolia — will entail, as well as its hours (Wednesday through Monday, 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. and closed on Tuesdays).

Heim will offer barbecue all day “while it lasts,” and its bar will be stocked with local craft brews on draft, more than 160 varieties of whiskey and bourbon and what the note promises are “delicious cocktails.” In the evening, Heim will offer a bar food menu that includes “smoked chicken wings, bacon burnt ends and the ‘HeimBurger’.”

The note concludes by saying “super secret soft open date information” is forthcoming, as is the official grand opening date.
