Every day, a reader asks, “When will you list the restaurants open for Christmas lunch?”

Today is that day. The list is short.

Here it is — one paragraph: Buca di Beppo, Furr’s, Humperdinks, many IHOPs, most Luby’s, Mercury Chophouse, Ol’ South Pancake House and Ruth’s Chris Steak House, plus hotels (the Gaylord, Omni and Renaissance Worthington and most others) and also the PETCO Iron Skillet Restauant at that Weatherford truck stop.

Oh — and Asian restaurants such as Little Lilly Sushi, Sushi Tao and probably others.

That’s it. Book now.

If you’re not into spending big for the Omni or Gaylord hotel buffets, several other hotel restaurants will be open and serving, including Copeland’s of New Orleans at the Hilton Southlake and R Bar & Grill at the Hilton Arlington.

R Bar & Grill chef Marcelo Vasquez has an impressive menu: prime rib or Cajun shrimp with an asparagus-tomato salad, pumpkin-squash soup and apple strudel, $43.50 all day Dec. 25.

The regular menu also will be available, featuring specials such as the R Burger with jalapeños and pepper jack, calamari, mahi-mahi tacos or lobster crepes.

R Bar & Grill is open daily for lunch, dinner and late-night service until 11 p.m. or midnight; 2401 E. Lamar Blvd., 817-640-4711, rbarandgrilltx.com.

Christmas duck

Another interesting Christmas hotel lunch and dinner menu is at the Grand Met inside the Grand Hyatt DFW: a sous vide duck breast with mustard greens and butternut squash puree, $36. Meanwhile, a chocolate-chestnut “Christmas log” with whiskey-eggnog ice cream is $12; 2337 S. International Parkway, 972-973-1234, granddfw.hyatt.com.

Hotels & Humperdink’s

Copeland’s in Southlake will serve a special holiday menu and cheesecakes. In downtown Fort Worth, Ruth’s Chris at the Hilton Fort Worth will open at noon.

The DFW Marriott South’s RC Grille and most full-service Hyatt, Marriott, Radisson, Holiday Inn, Sheraton and Wyndham hotels will serve some sort of menu, although not always a special dinner.

Many local families will choose affordable Christmas turkey-and-dressing at cafeterias, Ol’ South Pancake House or Humperdinks Restaurant & Brewpub in Arlington, which will open at 10 a.m. that day; 700 Six Flags Drive, 817-640-8553, humperdinks.com.

Several restaurants and bar-and-grills will open Christmas night, including Bird Cafe in Fort Worth’s Sundance Square and Chef Blythe’s Southern Bistro on North Tarrant Parkway in North Richland Hills.

Holiday tea time

Time is also running out to book Holiday Tea weekends at the Ashton Hotel’s Six 10 Grille in downtown Fort Worth.

The only afternoon tea in Fort Worth features chestnut soup, tea sandwiches, scones and desserts; $39, 610 Main St., 817-332-0100, theashtonhotel.com.
