You just thought you knew all about Yogi’s breakfasts or The Lunch Box sandwiches and salads.
Both old Fort Worth favorites have something new.
Yogi’s, known for its breakfast pancakes, burritos and lunch sandwiches, will soon add enchilada platters and brisket tacos to become even more of an all-day cafe.
When owner Yogi Florsheim opened his cafe in 1997, it was a bagel cafe and sandwich deli.

He added more breakfasts and pancakes like those found at Austin breakfast cafes. To this day, Yogi’s migas or the multigrain blueberry pancakes might be the closest to an Austin breakfast in Cowtown.
Lately, the breakfast menu added fluffy biscuits with sausage gravy.
The new menu, due by mid-December, expands the salad selection and adds smoked brisket tacos, burritos and salads. Burgers now come with hand-breaded onion rings.
Yogi’s already served chili and Tex-Mex breakfasts, so enchiladas were a natural addition.
Big as a bread Box?
The Lunch Box bought a new bread box.
Lunch Box owner Immy Khan bought the Black Rooster Bakery this month, and promises to keep the recipes unchanged, as he considers ways to market its artisan breads and desserts.
The Black Rooster’s Marche Ann Mann opened her bakery four years ago and quickly developed a reputation for high-quality breads and, particularly, cakes and pies.
The deal comes at the height of the holiday baking season. Khan said everybody’s too busy keeping up with the pie demand to think about what’s next, but he hopes to add more restaurant outlets for Black Rooster breads and maybe offer a selection of Lunch Box sandwiches.
Both Lunch Box restaurants, the original in the Village on Camp Bowie and the new Western Center Boulevard location, continue serving lunch sandwiches and salads daily and Saturdays.
The original Lunch Box is also open Sundays.
The Lunch Box will celebrate its 40th anniversary with specials Dec. 8-14, Khan said.
More ‘Dutch babies’
One more update on an old Fort Worth favorite:
The Ol’ South Pancake House now has a “Dutch babies sampler” of its sugary miniature German pancakes, really crêpes loaded with powdered sugar, lemon and butter.
Ol’ South also has joined the chicken-and-waffles craze in a big way: with large, buttermilk-dipped chicken tenders on top of the restaurant’s sweet waffles.
The Ol’ South is an iconic, 24-hour Texas cafe, serving breakfasts by day and chicken-fried steaks by night 364 days a year. (It’s closed Christmas Day.) It’s a favorite for travelers, visitors and Stock Show crowds, or after events such as Friday’s Parade of Lights.
